Thing #15

July 6th, 2009

I’ve always been an obsessive organizer.  Even when I was a kid, I used color-coded ink in my assignment book to match the class notebooks and colored post-it notes, etc., etc.  So, I love delicious!  I’ve always liked having the freedom to bookmark websites within my web browser, but I’ve always had to weigh the pros and cons of doing so.  The last thing I want is to have an over-crowded bookmark list so that I can’t find what I need when I need it.  Delicious takes care of those issues for me by having me organize them myself.  The idea of tagging is fantastic because it allows me to categorize sites that have things in common.  When I want to find a math worksheet, I can click the “worksheet” tag and search all of the relevant sites to find what I need.  I’ve already tried it.  It’s fantastic!

So, I can certainly see the uses of delicious in my own lesson-preparation.  I think it would also be great to use with my colleagues.  At my school, we have four math teachers for grades 6-12, and we communicate daily about how we can work together to better our students.  It would be so much easier to share usernames on delicious rather than email links back-and-forth all the time.  I’m also thinking…Would there be a way to use delicious to share with parents good websites for math practice over the summer?  Hmm…Lots to consider

Look at my links.
